From the bustling streets of Glasgow, we ventured north to Aberdeen this weekend. Turns out the Granite City has a sweet heart! Known for its stunning architecture, maritime history, and (as we were delighted to discover) a thriving bakery scene that's anything but grey! Here's the lowdown on the bakeries that sweetened our stay in this charming city:

The Bread Maker: This artisan bakery, tucked away in the heart of Aberdeen, is a true haven for bread lovers. The aroma of freshly baked sourdough, rye, and ciabatta fills the air, and the display cases are overflowing with tempting loaves, pastries, and cakes. We were fascinated by the variety of flours and grains they use.

Almondine Bakery: This charming bakery, located in the Rosemount area, is a local favorite. Their cakes and pastries are beautifully decorated and bursting with flavour. ...and those macaroons! A hidden gem!

Ross of Chapel Street: This traditional bakery has been a staple in Aberdeen for over 50 years. They're known for their classic Scottish bakes, as well as their delicious breads, pastries, and cakes. They have something for everyone.

The Bread Guy's Bakery: This bakery is a local legend, and for good reason! We were blown away by the sheer variety of loaves on offer, from classic sourdoughs to more unusual creations like their rosemary and sea salt focaccia. And don't even get us started on their pastries – the almond croissants were flaky, buttery perfection. Carb lover's dream!

Cookie Cult: This quirky bakery is a haven for cookie monsters! They offer a wide variety of cookies, from classic chocolate chip to more inventive flavours like salted caramel and peanut butter.

Aberdeen, you were a delightful surprise! Onwards to new adventures!
